The colour of each candle also corresponds to the planets and days of the week, and also the astrological sign correspondences wherever they are present. You will notice that a single colour may correspond to several astrological signs.

For chakra healing work, chakra meditation and spells for the chakras, I have included the candle colour correspondences for each chakra.

Black.

Black has a universal energy, and can have a very calming, grounding influence on you and your work. It is used to transmute negative energy and create a grounded space in which to practice. Black candles are excellent for use in all spells and workings that involve communing with the spirits of the dead. Any working involving the night, the universe or the cosmos, would be suited to a black candle. Black is a colour for Saturn and as such will work well in spells involving the Saturn qualities of common sense, endurance or peace. This colour is used in hex removal, communion with the dead, and shape-shifting work, and can draw in the energies of Isis/Osiris. Black also symbolizes purity, since it is an absence of colour and confusion. Black candles are used in grounding and protection work, and are useful in any work performed on a Saturday. Black will dispel discord and disharmony.

It is also a lovely colour for any spells performed for young children. In addition it has proved excellent for working on healing issues from childhood. This colour candle is also lovely for providing a calming, loving family environment within the home, especially when coupled with the scent of Rose essential oil.
